Used: To Buy or Not to Buy?
We all know that buying new clothes can add up pretty quickly – especially when your body is changing quickly and you need to replace just about everything! Why not consider adding some lightly used apparel to the mix? Fashion trends turnover fast and investing the money in a piece that may look fabulous now may not translate to a second or third pregnancy.
Here are some tips for making some smart financial decisions when it comes to your maternity wardrobe:
- Invest in your basics – you are probably going to wear these items on a weekly basis and you want them to last! If you take care of them, they may also work for additional pregnancies. Some good examples are maternity jeans, khaki or black maternity pants, cardigans, and outerwear.
- Consider used maternity tops and maternity dresses that may be more trend specific. For instance, nautical tops are all the rage right now but will they be in two years when you are pregnant again? Save the money by buying one that has been enjoyed and recycled by another mama!
- Think about buying mostly used apparel if you know this is going to be your only or your final pregnancy. Sure, you could pass your new items on to friends and family but wouldn’t it be more fun to save some money to put towards massages and pedicures?
