Sneaking A Peak (Will You or Won’t You Find Out the Sex?)
Aside from the questions about the name, when you are pregnant the other big thing that everyone wants to hear is whether or not you know the sex of the baby. Some couples know right away that they will find out the sex, while others are determined to keep the baby’s gender a mystery until the birth. Sometimes though, the decision is not that cut and dried. If you are among those who are on the fence regarding this topic, here are a few of the arguments for each side.
• You can decorate the nursery and buy furnishings and clothing to suit the baby’s gender. No generic “A day at the Zoo” or “Jungle Fun” themes (unless that is what you want). Feel free to unleash the tiaras and tutus or race cars and fire engines, whatever the case may be.
• You do not have to struggle with choosing two names that you like and can both agree on. Instead you can focus all your energy on choosing the perfect boy or girl name for your little prince or princess.
• Avid curiosity!
Team “We Want to Keep it a Mystery”:
• You get to uphold the time honored tradition of finding out the baby’s gender at the time of the birth. The option to find out a baby’s sex ahead of time is a relatively recent development. You will be in good company knowing that you are experiencing the same anticipation as your parents and grandparents and many before them have done.
• There is nothing quite like that moment right after your baby is born and you hear that well known phrase, “It’s a…!” It is pretty hard to top the excitement of having just seen your baby for the first time and also finally finding out who was kicking you all that time.
Either way, the decision is up to you. Do not let others talk you out of what you want to do.
